Applying for a Primary School Place - *DEADLINE*

Parents and carers who have children who are due to start in Reception or to move to a Junior School in September 2023 have only till 5pm on Sunday 15 January to apply for their school place. With less than 2 weeks to go, Warwickshire County Council are urging parents and carers to submit their application by the deadline. Dog Waste Bins

We are pleased to confirm that we have installed two new dog waste bins as part of our anti dog Fouling campaign. The first of the new bins has been installed on Folly Lane and the second has been installed by the nursery on the junction of Little Brum and Boot Hill. We hope the installation of the two new bins in our village will encourage the small minority of dog owners who do not clean up after their dog -
Community Litter Pick - Thank you

The Parish Council would like to say ‘thank you’ to everyone who attended our community litter pick day on Saturday, 26th June 2021. 9 people attended and we collected 22 bags of rubbish. We really appreciate all of the volunteers time and effort to help tidy up our village. We will arrange another community litter picking day in August, the date will be published on our noticeboards and website in due course. -

The Parish Council apologises for the cancellation of the litter pick on 15th May, but the weather forecast was poor and we did not want people caught in a downpour. As it was our first we had no idea who would turn up, so could not contact people. Hopefully we will arrange the next for better weather and take people's contact details. Dog Fouling

Grendon Parish Council asks that those dog owners who are not clearing up after their dog to please do so. There are dog waste and litter bins located conveniently around the village to make this job easier or take the waste home with you for disposal. The bins are emptied by the North Warwickshire Borough Council (NWBC) street cleaning teams. Everyone in the village is paying for this service, so please use it and help keep your village a pleasure -

Co-op / Former Boot Inn Contrary to rumours the CO-OP is still planned to open on the 4th December 2020. Their shopfitters have removed signs and will be replacing them with the CO-OP's own. The Howkins and Harrison "TO LET" signs refer to the old accommodation which has been turned into 5 offices. This information is direct from the building's owners. -

Recreation Ground

Recreation Ground The Parish Council have received enquiries as to when the recreation ground will reopen. A vast amount of money was obtained with difficulty by Cllr. Wright for the following purpose. To lay new drains to make it suitable and safe to accommodate a senior football pitch and a number of smaller ones for the large number of junior teams which have nowhere to play. Update from your Parish Council.... The Parish council has purchased "gateway" signsshowing ‘Welcome to Grendon’ with the speedlimit[s] for all road entrances to the village. These willbe installed shortly. We have also agreed to gift a newslide to NWBC for use at the Boot Hill play area whichwill be installed in February. A new Parish notice board will be installed nearWoodside School shortly. This will allow residents stayup to date with important local information.   -

Grendon Flood Action Group - Update

On Tuesday, 30th July a resident drop in session was held at the Penmire Community Rooms where residents had the opportunity to drop in and discuss issues with the members of the Grendon Flood Action Group and Warwickshire County Council. The Parish Council has a limited number of inflatable sand bags available to assist those residents affected by flooding. These are available FREE OF CHARGE and can be collected from the Community Centre by prior arrangement with the Parish Council -

It is possible that the next issue of the Newsletter may be the last as the compilers have decided to give it up after 13 years. It would be a shame to loose the Newsletter as it features all relevant and important village information, it would be good if someone else would be prepared to take it on. Parish Councillor & Vice Chairman Michael White had great success at the 2019 Nottinghamshire County Show taking the Supreme Heavy Horse Championship with his 10 year old, Grey, British Percheron Mare, 'Willingham Mary'. Michael who farms with his family at Swan Farm, Watling Street, Grendon, has been breeding British Percheron Horses on the farm for around 10 years, under the 'White Swan' Prefix.
